Tie Rod Boots

I'm replacing the tie rod boots on my YJ and got the drivers side done. When I went to the passenger side, where there was no boot left, the tie rod is different. On the old boots there was a metal ring that had to be pried out, this is how the drivers side was. The new boot then fit around a little lip. On the passengers side there is no lip, so the boot doesn't stay on.

I do know that my Jeep had an accident before I bought it with front passenger side damage, so I'm thinking that maybe the tie rod was replaced with one from a different model jeep (xj?) and the drivers side end was the stock YJ one.

Anyone have any ideas? The boots I got from quadratec are for 55-06 jeep cj, yj, and tj.

Some TRE boots merely slip on and are held in place when they're sandwiched against the steering arm.
