tj lift questions

if i were to install the rubicon 2" coil spacers with the monotubes on a stock 2000 wrangler, would i need any additional modifications... ie lowering the transfer case or anything like that? has anyone had any experience with these kits? what if i added a 1" body lift, would the two together require additional mods? would i be able to fit 31" tires with just the suspension lift?

im full of questions, thanks for the help

With the 2 inch spacers you probably won't need the transfer case drop. If you start getting driveline vibes, go ahead and install one; but most people don't need it. Adding the 1" body lift won't require any extensive modifications except for what comes with the kit and possibly some shifter clearancing around your center console. Yes you'd be able to fit 31's just fine. You could also run 32's just fine I believe. 33's and you're gonna start to get some rubbing with just that set up.

31" fit fine with the coil spacers, up 33" if you add the 1" body lift.

The only mods I do for a coil spacer lift is adjust toe-in, recenter steering wheel, and run the caster all the way out. You may need cam bolts on the axle end of the front lower control arms if your jeep didn't come with them, needed to adjust caster and available at the dealer.

That is what I installed on mine minus the body lift and there is more than enough room for the 31s. I would recommend an alignment after install though.

what do you use your jeep for? do you have lockers? do you have trouble keeping up with bigger jeeps? i wont be doing too many really difficult obstacles, i just wanna be able to get pretty much anywhere i could camp, be it through use of bypasses or whatever, and still have a good daily driver

also, corrupt... i just noticed where you are from... i am from roanoke va originally... could that set up, 2" lift with 31" bfg T/a ko and front and rear aussie lockers take on say.... potts mountain

nope im just a door knocker haha... do you have any input on my ideas for the jeep? im stationed at carson and plan on enjoying our great nation as much as possible when i get back =)

Im in the process of doing the same thing to mine. If you arent wanting to do too much off-roading, then a 2" lift and some 31's will be fine. It shouldnt affect the drivability any, maybe a little different gas mileage. PM me if you have any ?'s on anything, especially military.

No lockers but I don't do anything too serious with it. I usually take along my 6 year old and we stick to the pretty mild stuff.

Here's my TJ coil spacer writeup that should give you an idea on what you'll need to do.

From what I understand, mono tubes will give you a pretty harsh street ride - they are designed to be a "performance off road" shock. If you have a daily driver, you should stick with the twin tube.

You can do it, but you'll see some rubbing when offroad, especially when the swaybar is disconnected.

how bad would the rubbing be? is it correctable with new fenders or moving the turn stops? i wont be doing any hard rock crawling... would the rubbing outweigh the benefits from the extra clearance for the ocasional big rock or two?
