Hey gang - I'm new here.

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 liter 6 cylinder automatic with 170,000 miles that I LOVE!

Recently the transmission started slipping going from first to second but ONLY when the engine is cold and usually only when making a left hand turn. I checked the fluid level with the engine hot and the car in park. It was actually a little too high on the dipstick. I may remove some if this could be a problem.

So am I going to need a rebuild in the near future or could this be some other issue?

in my experience it has usually been the fluid level but since its high not low it could possible be the tourque converter,
this is comming from my limited experience with auto trans.
sorry couldnt be more help

If I can remember right on mine, you are suppose to check it in Neutral. I don't know how much that would matter. But I did have some transmission issues like that when it was cold, put some Lucas transmission fix in it and adjust the level of fluid. That's what worked for me.
