when I take off there is a "tink" noise, could it be the u joints its not a "clunk" sound, more like a single "tink" commin' from somewhere in the drivetrain. Any ideas?

is it pulsating? only when you go over a bump? once a day?

to troubleshoot driveline problems, the best way is to put it up on jackstands, and have someone drop the clutch a few times.... then try it with the parking brake applied... with you down under listening to where the noises come from...

check the bolt that holds the transmission to the skidplate, that was my problem, much easier than i thought it would be

you might be on to something snitty, I just installed a new exhaust system and had to drop one side of the skid plate. It was makin' the noise before I did that, but one of the bolts were not tight. thanks guys I'm going to replace my u joints next weekend they were next on my list of stuff to get greasey for.

that could be a problem there then... what my sound was, was the bolt moving through the hole, and scraping the threads on the plate

What is a muffler bearing. My truck makes the same sound. Just like that to describe it. "tink" It also does it if you take the shock off and bounce the truck up and down. Or if you violently shack the jeep from side to side by the rear bumper. "tink" "tink" "tink". It drives me freakin nuts. I wind up bringing the clutch up faster to make it do it to try to here where it comes from to drive myself more nuts. it sonds like when the exhaust "tinks" when its cooling. Let me know if you find it for sure. Or if you can creat it other ways like I can.
