SYE or T-case drop?

So i've come to the point where I have to make a quick decision on whether to go all out and get a SYE kit for my NP241 in my YJ or just drop the t-case an inch. I have just finished putting a chevy 4.3L and NV3500 transmission in my 1988 YJ and need to drive it 2300 miles to Washington state in two weeks. I am on a very tight budget so the transfer case drop sounds very practical. However I will have to use a SYE eventually and might be able to scrap some money for one from somewhere. Is it worth the buy?:???:

If you have the money and are going to need one eventually then I say go for the sye. You'll also need a cv driveshaft. Otherwise you can make spacers and drop tc for free if you can do it yourself.

More clearance, stronger... with that stronger drivetrain it would be a good idea if you can afford it.
