REBEL OFFROAD @ Moab EJS - Day 4 - The Photoshoot

REBEL OFFROAD

Official Vendor

Rebels,
All good intentions start with your heart and mind in the right place. Life however - or should we say - the Jeep trail - has other plans. We started off Wednesday with a trip to the Expo HQ to get our booth established and all that good stuff - then packed up the Rebel rigs for a "leisurely" run along Poison Spider Mesa. That trail - while very scenic, also has some challenging spots that we were looking forward to. We ran into our very good friends over at Smittybilt and even ran into Sean Angus (Smittybilt Head Honcho) driving their latest 2-door. We headed left, they headed right… that's where the fun began...

Poison Spider offered us some of the best scenery we'd ever seen. Sheer rock slabs and climbs that tested both our Toyo Open Country MT's limits along with our "fear factor." Storms seemed to be settling in over Moab city but from our vantage point we managed to steer clear of the rain.

Poison Spider turned into a run along Golden Spike - a slightly more radical trail that was even more breathtaking. We ended up in an area we feel hadn't been traveled in quite some time - leading us to the arch you'll see in the photos below. We followed that to a massive canyon in the area with a rail track that passes right through the mountain. Our very good friend Adam, whom I'm calling Spiderman for now on - had no fear getting right up to the edge and peering over. The photos he took make my skin crawl!

That's where the fun began. Night started to settle in but we simply shrugged it off. We were so involved in finding the best spots for photo-ops (none of that poser stuff mind you) that time just slipped on by. Poison Spider Mesa turned into Golden Spike - which by midnight - yes midnight - inadvertently turned into Rusty Nail - BACKWARDS!

We were pretty tired at this point, considering we'd been on the trail since 1:00pm that afternoon! We Jeep'd across a group helping a TJ limp out with a broken rear pinion - but a great attitude. That's what we love about Jeepers - no matter what - they are happy to be Jeeping.

"We saw you coming 18 miles away!" one Jeeper in that group exclaimed the next day at the Expo. With all the lighting installed on our Rebel rigs they really thought we were a rescue crew sent out after them. Our VisionX lights on the front of our Rebel Unlimited sure did "light up the night sky" to use an aged cliche. They really did save us and that's not just advertising. We flicked them on and all those famous white dots the Red Rock 4x4 club painted helped us get home. They really paid for themselves that night! Don't believe us? Well, we are here posting because of them.

Midnight on Rusty Nail turned into 1:00am when we happened across a CJ in distress, just as turned around as your Rebel friends. The three of us managed to find our way down to the junction of Metal Masher and Rusty Nail - down the hill to the train tracks and home.

At 2:00am we opened our hotel room door and PASSED OUT. Our alarm clocks were set for 6:00am to get our booth at the Expo set up. Now THAT is a long photoshoot!

I'm about to post day 5 (today) so stay tuned!

Cheers,
Bond
