1950 Chevy, Deluxe, “Blue Flame” straight six, three on the tree, “Moon” hubcaps, fender skirts, fuzzy dice on rear-view mirror, fox tails on dual antennae (one radio, one speaker), “wolf whistle” horn, a rolling J.C. Whitney catalog. I was very cool and hep then in my pegged chinos, engineer boots, T-shirt w/rolled up sleeves and greasy hairdo, spent about $874,982,921,462 pimping out that ride

1951 Studebaker, Land Commander, V-8, auto trans, a librarian’s car given to me by someone who didn’t like me, huge back seat, discovered girls, great car for drive-in movies

1954 Studebaker, Starlight Coupe, V-8, auto trans, tiny back seat, terrible car for drive-in movies and high school girls, what was I thinking?

1964 Corvair, Monza Convertible, fun car despite what Ralph Nader thought, great car for tooling around with single career girls

1967 Dodge, Dart w/289 V8 and goodies, my excess testosterone days

1973 Buick Station Wagon, married w/three kids, my no more testosterone days

198? AMC, Concord, the automotive low point of my life, please don’t hate me

198? Chrysler, Cordoba, V-8, Corinthian leather seats, ran like the wind possessed just like Ricardo Montalban said

199? Lincoln, Continental, a luxomobile, I had arrived

199? Cadillac, another luxomobile, I was still there

1998 Buick, Regal V-6 w/turbocharger, mid-life crisis car

to present:

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, fantastic vehicle, flawless reliability, huge cargo capacity, where are those drive-in movies and high school girls now?

and

1985 CJ-7, “Bubbacon Edition,” I-6, T-5, my favorite and my onset of senility vehicle, spent about $874,982,921,462 so far making it my masterpiece

I think I omitted a few (senility) and did not list my wife’s cars.

1983 Plymouth Reliant, 4 cyl, auto transmission, 78,000 miles on it at time of death... Was my Grandma's car, running fine, till she stopped driving it at 54,000 miles, and it sat in the driveway for 5 years... Then my dad takes it out on the freeway to go to work, and blows every seal that engine ever had. After extensive rebuild work, it was back on the road, and running great. Loved that car. I took it up north to my property, hadn't been up there in about 10 years (really only a Jeepworthy road), but anyone that has ever owned one (AKA Aries, K-Car, The Car that Saved Chrysler), you would know that the way that car was designed, and it's front wheel drive made it crawl through anything... Except 2 feet of mud, that was bad. Tow truck guy smashes into it pulling out, and since Michigan is not good to cars, the rusted-out body pretty much shattered, and I barely made it home...

But, if it was not for that, I would not have gotten my Jeep, because I decided right then and there that I wanted a vehicle that I would not have to worry about getting up north.

So now, we have Jeepy, the 2000 XJ, upon whom I just managed to top 72800 miles on the other day.
