What is there to do in Vegas?

A quick question to those of you who live in Lost Wages, We (my wife and I )are driving down this weekend to catch the NHRA drag races Oct 28th,29th.
Since most of the stage shows cost as much or more than as the drag race tickets we are going on the cheap. We dont gamble nor drink that much so spending time in the casiono doesnt thrill us. We want to hit Freemont street for the covered light walk, but what else is there to go and see?

Don't live there, but visited a few times. If you don't mind a short drive and you enjoy hiking, I'd highly suggest Red Rock Canyon. But then again I'm a northerner that doesn't get to see big rock formations like that, so it may not be your cup of tea. Either way enjoy the trip.

I don't gamble either, but there is a ton more to do in the casinos than just that.

At New York New York, they have an awesome rollercoaster.

Just walking thru the casinos is plenty of entertainment.

You have to catch the water show in front of the Bellagio (Free). REALL COOL.

Treasure Island has a pirate show in front of the casino. (Free)

And The Mirage has a volcano that explodes every hour or so. (Free)

The Rio has a Carnival Parade that floats thru the gambling area (Hanging fromt he ceiling (I forget how often, but it's like every 3 hours or so...and FREE)

Go to Ceasar's Palace and window shop in the Mall!!! Amazing! Tons to look at, it's in the style of Ancient Greece. The skies look pretty real and every hour or so it goes from sunrise to sunset. Also, and I can't remember which one, one of the statues (I think Bacchus) on one of the statues animates and puts on a show. (Really cool) Ceaser's palace will kill about 4-6 hours.

Also, it's not THAT expensive, but you can pay a fee at a hotel and go to one of the real cool swimming pools without being a guest. Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, and Treasure Island from what I understand is the coolest. (call and make sure you can pay to get in before driving there)

Then go to the Venetian to do the same thing. Walk their mall and eat Gellati Ice Cream. You can take a gondola ride (But that costs $)

At night, go to a random bar in one of the casino's drink beers and watch free music. Downtown is cheaper for this. The light walk as you suggested (Downtown) is cool as well.

There's a fat burger and and In-and-out burger for good cheap eats. But you have to splurge and spend 20 bucks on one of the all you can eat buffets. (The older the casino, the cheaper the cost.)

Or take the bus ride to Hoover Dam.......I didn't do that when I was out there and always regretted it.

sorry guys evenings only...my days are going to be filled with the sweet sent of 85% Nitro-methane, pure alcohol and a dash of AB-gas.

Most of the rides and other events the casinos offer are active in the evening also. Ballys had a star trek show that teleported you and the illusion was very amazing...

New York does have the roller coaster (not cheap and on a per ride basis).

Me? Being very food oriented - The buffets everytime! Now what should I do with my diet? Oh yeah, 2/3 of every plate needs to be green... Does any of that cake have green frosting?

You might also try to get a tower room that faces the strip. I can sit for hours and just observe what is happening out there...

Everything on my list is doable at night. In fact, they are better to do in the evenings.

We went to the NHRA drags here in PA a couple weeks ago. First time we went it rained out, the second time there were delays but they did in fact run. I had never been before and honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to go but my son seemed to want to so we went.

Un-Freakin'-Believeable!!! I could try to describe it to those who have never been but it is impossible to grasp unless you go there. Just imagine cars so fast and power so intense that your vision blurrs. Whatever your idea of fast is will be destroyed at one of these events.

We'll be going back next year for certain.

Enjoy Utah!

Sorry not to have responded earlier, I was traveling from Portland to Seattle. BlueMan is actually a really great show. It is one of the few I don't mind seeing repeatedly with clients. If you want specific restaurant suggestions, attractions, etc PM me. I'll also send you my number in case you have questions or want to do something kind of spur of the moment and want advice. I still have a little bit of juice around town and can get you fixed up pretty well at some of the more exclusive restaurants in town.

Hope you have a Great time!!!!

Jack

I hate mimes. But the Blue Man Group aren't really mimes. You WILL love the show. I promise.

Too bad she didn't score Circe de soliel tickets. (I hear Ka is even better than O)
