Makes sense. Guess I have been trying assess whether any gains in horsepower from switching to an electric fanwould outweigh the risks of it "coming unplugged" way out in no man's land... But you make a good point. It is hard to beat just good old reliability, isn't it? Thanks, Don
Thanks to all of you for the advice. Maybe I will just convert my CJ7 to YJ springs. Would be interested to hear feedback from anyone who has made that switch - how much did it change the performance. By the way- I have 32" BFG MT's now, when these wear down more I want to move to 33's...
Thanks for the info Rick. I seem to be getting mostly non-favourable replys about Shackle Reversal. So you like your YJ springs....I am considering doing that. Did you do that yourself, and if so did you notice a big improvement> What kinfd of improvement? Thanks again!
I love my '79 CJ7 with stock 258 6cylinder - now that I threw away the Carter carb, installed a rebuilt Motorcraft 2150, and switched the distrubutor , wires & coil over to TFI. What an improvement! Now I am thimking about to convert over to electric fan for cooling. Does anyone have any...
I want to do both these to my '79 CJ7. The shackle reversal for a smoother ride on the road & to reduce risk of frame cracking. The YJ springs to get the (again) smoother ride the wider springs of YJ reportly give. Any aftermarker approaches to do both of these that anyone has tried ? I want to...
I had Rhinoline done to my '84 CJ7 a couple years back. Then This summer I had Line-X done to my '79 CJ7. The products are quite different. Line-X is a harder material, with a finer textured pattern than Rhino. It doesn't stretch or give much & I suspect it adds a little more structural...
What is the silver box on the front of this coil that came off off my '79 CJ7? I pulled this coil off, and have added the TFI coil & distributor cap/body/wires conversion. But the new coil gets very hot and smokes when ignition is on. Should I have included the silver box on my new TFI coil...
