Going to be picking up a 97 zj that has the awd and is auto. Just wondering if I could take the manual trans and np231 out of my 94 xj and swap it in. The zj I'm getting for free. It's a impound where I work and the boss wants it gone. Just wondering if this is possible or not.
I'm getting a good deal......free... On a mint fully loaded 97 grand Cherokee. I have a 94 xj that has a manual with the 231 transfer case. I wand to swap the trans and transfer case to the zj. Has anyone done this, or it it even possible? Any inputs would be a great help. Thanks in advance.
The regulator is in the computer. I had a similar problem but my headlights and radio blew up. Turned out my positive and negative battery leads were shot and most of the insulation was gone. they shorted out taking the alternator with it.
I did mine on a 90 xj. Pain in the ass. Just get a good air hammer and it will bust the nut right out of there. Use a piece of tie wire to fish new bolts through the top. Kind of hard to tighten but it gets the job done.
When in doubt just add it. It's like 7 bucks at advanced. It won't hurt anything if you don't have limited slip and if you do then you need it anyways. Up front don't cone with limited slip so just add regular gear oil unless you want to spend all that money on synthetic
To my know how. And don't quote me but you can switch hubs, then will be able to put lockouts on done axles. But I know you can't just put them on a stocker.
