    4WD in reverse on incline

Nagging question. This past winter I was in deep snow on friends driveway that has a steep decline. I was backing up the driveway in 4 Low, but was not engaging the front wheels for some reason. I turned around and went up the driveway forward and the front wheels were engaging fine when moving...

    258 block w/ 86 head

Call a machine shop and ask a pro! They have spec books that will tell you how much you can bore out holes before having a problem.

    sputtering under acceleration

Check your fuel pump. The manual pump on the 258 is cheap. $30 something at Kragen. I had the same issue with my 88 YJ with the 258. I replaced the fuel pump and it solved my problem.

Need some pricing input for e-bay sale...

Do a search for the parts that you have to see what everyone is getting. I like the Buy It Now feature, because I hate the bidding process. If you ask a reasonable price you can move these in a day rather than wait a week. Start the bid at $1 and add a Buy It Now feature. For shipping, look for...

    Bucking Bronco in 1st

If the engine idles with no surge on the RPMs, then I would look towards a slipping clutch. Is this a manual or hydraulic clutch? If hydraulic, check the fluid first. If manual, you have a problem with the pressure plate most likely. That means a clutch job.

    4.56 or 4.88 auto 2.5L 33 tires

    I have a 4" lift with 33's on a 6cyl 5speed. I have stock gears which turn around 4000RPMs at 65 in 4th.

    YJ Power Fading Away

Change the cap, rotor and wires first. Change the plugs and look for fouling of the old plugs. Use the platinum Autolites that have either two or four anodes for max power. As far as the gas, see if you smell gas as you are reving the engine. Your are probably running too rich on your fuel...

    Inspired by Sparky

The most the belt would do is damage the belt. I would not consider that to be any relation to the problem. Have you rebuilt and adjusted carbs before? My guess is that your mixture is not quite right. Do you smell gas from the tailpipe?

    Rear

If you want strong, see a local welding shop and they can build you a good strong bumper out of U beam steel. Guaranteed not to bend not matter what is pulling you out. My rear bumper is a welding shop custom. Extremely strong. Just a thought.

    Speaker help!!

I changed mine when I bought my 88. I put Sony speaker in from Walmart. Get the red ones. I forget the model name, but they are very good speakers. I placed matching rear 6x9s in custom speaker boxes that fit in front of the wheel well. I like these better than the sound bar, and the wiring can...

    Can't reverse my '89 Wrangler

I solved my problem. The stick was not engaging all the way into reverse. When I pulled the boot off the shifter, there was a wiring harness and a hose that was in the way. Also I noticed when I put the boot back on, I had to redrill the holes to mount it to allow for proper clearance to the...

    Gear Ratios

I am running a 4.2L w/ 5spd trans. I have not adjusted the speedometer. I was in 4th gear when I took the tach reading. Even if the speedometer is off slightly, I was nearing 4000RPM while going 60. That still does not sound right. I think I will take the advise of Bouty Hunter and pull the diff...

    Road Armor Matrix Bumper

Looks like a Hummer wannabe. Go traditional. It will save you a few bucks for sure! It'll probably be stronger to. Remember, the proverb of the deer that was proud of his antlers, but hated his skinny legs? Its the performance that matters.

    Carb Swap Question

Have you heard of a HOLLEY #8007 390 CFM 4-BBL. CARBURETOR conversion kit? It comes with the intake manifold and a 4bbl carb that is supposed to replace the Carter BBD. I have been thinking about making the leap, but am hesitant. Know anyone who has made the conversion from 2bbl to 4bbl? What...
