Alright, Sparky's thread inspired me to ask my own questions. I just recently rebuilt the carburetor and finally got my throttle linkage right so I could open this carb wide open and the gain I experienced was amazing. I was able to burn my tires on dry pavement for probably a good 3-4 seconds and could even get them to spin a little bit while rolling in second gear. I'm sorry, that may sound retarded, but this is the only measure I have of how much power I got outa this thing before it started fading away. Well, I'm still able to get up to highway speeds just fine, but the power sure ain't what it used to be and I would really like to have it back for when I need it. Cap, rotor, and wires should be pretty new, did the HEI swap last summer and it wasn't driven much through the school year. Plugs are new. No cat. Ummm, only thing that I can think of that has gone wrong is when I changed the alternator. I accidentally put the belt around the wrong lip on the harmonic balancer but only idled it like that for a little bit before I noticed it. I didn't think that that really mattered, but that is ooonly thing I can think of. Absolutely any help at all would be greatly appreciated guys, thanks a lot.
