78 CJ5 Fuel and Temperature Guage Nightmares

In 74 I had a Datsun 310 spl roadster, then in 77 it was an MGB hardtop. Man when I look back, I must have owned a hundred cars. Some I think about every day. Honestly I miss the Datsun fairlady the most. My last x got my Triumph GT6.

78 CJ5 Fuel and Temperature Guage Nightmares

That's funny. I owned a Triumph 500 tiger, when I was 19. I loved it, but if you ever got one that didn't leak oil, you had a bad one. Let a puddle every where I stopped.

The one I have is Haynes Repair Manual #50020 You can pick them up from your favorite parts house. Mine is 1949 - 1986, all models. It skips a lot, but it does have a good electrical section. Also great information on the internet. Tison I just occurred to me. I have a good scanner. If you...

78 CJ5 Fuel and Temperature Guage Nightmares

I had an old friend, who was a house painter. I bought his old Triumph GT6 from him. He actually used it for work. Had scratches on the roof, from carrying the ladder. It had no rust because it was covered in paint. Eventually my old Jeep will be all digital. I want to not modify it in any way...

    My new stereo

If I do away with the active bass/treble control " the two pots on it", and make it flat on the tone, It would be totally digital control. Then you could go with membrane keys, for volume, and balance. Heck, then you could pot it into a block. I still have some more work, but should have it...

    304 amc

The thermostat in mine is 180 deg. F. So it could be as high as around 210 deg. with a little pressure on the radiator. I couldn't find the normal running temp. but mine gets pretty hot. Probably around 200

One thing to try, unhook one side of the battery first. Pull a fuse out of the use box, I like using Scotch bright pads, or get some fine grit sand paper. You make either of your choice, the size of the fuse, pop it into the fuse block, and move it around. This is a good way to get the rust out...

    fuel gauge

Hi Scott, This should be helpful. This is pretty close. The funny thing with Jeep gauges, is the engine temperature, and gas are inner connected. The gas gauge regulates the power feeding to the temp. gauge. The second image is an old article I found that might give you some ideas. My '78 CJ5...

    Charging system issues

Wow, taking out a 50 amp fuse is pretty strange. Is there any label, as to what the fuse is running?

    77 jeep cj7 models

I am pretty sure the 1976 would have been a golden eagle, in celebration of our bicentennial. That is when stuff was labeled that.

    Any help

The computer could have gotten a glitch. You can unhook the battery for about 15 - 20 minutes. In the owners manual they may tell how to reboot.
