76 CJ for parting in RI. Will ship!

I would love to have a real jeep radio. Mine is a 78 cj5, but it looks like it will fit mine. Ah,darn, just relooked at the picture, its Jenson. Well still I need something to fill the hole. How much, if you still have it? What about the spare tire bracket, and the steering wheel? Thanks

    Carburetor to buy

I have been considering installing the high rise I have on it. That way I could put a 4 barrel on it. That would cure that problem. But I need to run down to my friends shop, and measure the height. I will not cut a hole in the original hood. So if it is too tall, I have to buy another hood to...

    '61 cj5 problem. Please help

Might have some metal in a crank bearing seizing it. You have the rods out so the crank should turn very easy now. I hope is something that is not major. Guess that is a crazy statement, with your engine laying in pieces. Good luck

    Carburetor to buy

Well yesterday I rebuilt my distributor, the slinger weights were flopping around. I just knew I had found my problem. Wrong, no change. Last night I pulled the carb off. Cleaned it completely, 3 cans of cleaner, and my Dremel with a wire brush. It looks new. Really I found no problem with it. I...

    Carburetor to buy

My carburetor is worn out. It is the original on my '78 CJ5 304. I am building another 304 for my Jeep, but it won't be done for several months. I have a high rise for it, no carb yet. It takes a 4 barrel. The 304 in my Jeep is the motor craft, 2100, 2 bbl. Can I purchase a 4 bbl. Holey, about a...

    Loping Motor or Bucking Bronco

I remember when I bought it the carb was in bad shape. It sat in a field for 2 years, with a gas can under the hood to run it. The tank had rusted out. I am real tempted to buy a rebuild kit. Thanks, I'll flush it out again first.

    Loping Motor or Bucking Bronco

No, not really. I cleaned my carb. about 3 weeks ago, and boy what a difference that made. Maybe I should check it first. Might even put a rebuild kit in it. It was full of trash. I was thinking of taking my camera out tomorrow, and taking a video of my noise. That may help people see/hear what...

    Loping Motor or Bucking Bronco

Nope, didn't work. Got half way down the mountain. Started back firing. I probably have the distributor too retarded now. Got me thinking timing chain slack?

    Loping Motor or Bucking Bronco

My CJ5 '78, 304, has starter loping, a lot Started a week ago, I noticed when in first gear, on a flat road, not pressing on the gas, it started trying to buck me out of the seat. Today I decided to check it out. I have inspected the distributor, little bit of white crusty oxide build up on the...

    No speedo after sye install

I don't know about the Jeep side of things, I'm an electronics engineer. It is probably a Hall effect sensor. If it has 3 wires. Brown is + 12 Volts, Blue is Common, and the third wire would be the pulse output. If you take that third wire and "with it disconnected" from the sensor, quickly...

    Distributor vacume advance

In the picture, you have pretty bad corrosion where the condenser connects to the main wire. If you are going to use it, You may want to pull that apart and clean it. Good luck.

    '61 cj5 problem. Please help

Have you pulled the plugs out, and tried to turn it? Lots of times that makes them easier.

2nd (or 3rd) hand PIAA fog lights

Turbogus, I hope the lights don't get too hot. Most epoxy will start to fall apart at 170 deg. F. If you see any problems, JB weld will go higher. Another would be silicone rubber, heck it gets harder with heat.

    Leaking transmission cooler line

My old '88 s-10 pickup has been running that way for 5 years now. It should work fine. To be honest, I am not familiar with your Jeep, but I can vouch for others working fine. Good luck. I am sure others on this site, can tell you better than I.

    '61 cj5 problem. Please help

Wow, The way you worded your problem, to me sounds like the starter is not working. You say you can push it while in gear? And the engine turns over? Man, if I had a 61 CJ5, I would want to make it as close to original as possible. It would be worth much more.
