1993 Cherokee (XJ) Country: Build by TWDJ

As this is my 1st build thread ever, I spent some time looking at how others have successfully created and updated their project Jeep. One thing became immediately apparent and that is the need for LOTS of pics which I will start doing as soon as I can. As there is no place better to start than...

    PROJECT Diversion: '93 XJ Country

When I get this project rolling, I will start a build thread with pics. Thanks for the input!

Two (2) issues that seem to have anecdotal responses.

Point made! I have 1" thick adapters, but they maintain the same bolt pattern.

    Thanks much, everyone!

Two (2) issues that seem to have anecdotal responses.

Jeepkid46: What I have found recently is I had been using some incorrect terminology as far as the spacers go. They are actually "adapters" with their own lugs and lug nuts. The bolt pattern was not changed by the "adapter" as I like the factory aluminum wheels and they work well with the...

Jeepkid46: Isn't YouTube a great tool for questions like this? THANKS for the link. Locktite sounds like a great idea ... and will be executed this weekend.

Two (2) issues that seem to have anecdotal responses.

Jeepergeo: An unexpected response but one I am pleading guilty to. After re-reading my post it did sound a bit like I was knocking folks who are new and venturing into this hobby ... which certainly was NOT my intent. I'm a big believer in teaching, mentoring, and coming up along side anyone...

Two (2) issues that seem to have anecdotal responses.

I've been lurking around off-road forums for the last few years and have seen a HUGE number of newby, noob, new guy type posts. Personally, I like to research A LOT before posting so there is at least a minimum of understanding before asking a question. There is so much available wisdom and...

    PROJECT Diversion: '93 XJ Country

At some point I need to get some pics to show progress. Not much to show now so we'll just go with what has been done so far ... (1) Rebuilt the front suspension. New UCAs and LCAs, replaced front wheel bearings. No springs or lift yet. Wanted to see what I was working with. (2) Temporarily...

    New XJ owner in NorCal

Hello, first post in a long time. Was a YJ owner years ago and now have a XJ. Going to be building for mild to moderate off-road (we'll see how long that lasts) with an emphasis on Low COG. XJ is basically stock with 160K miles with the only "upgrade" being a nice set of 30x9.5/15 tires...

Who here has served, or currently serving?

I did not serve in the military, but my son is presently deployed. US Army, SPC, NCOIC, 7th POG, Bagram Airfield Afghanistan. MOS is 25B ... gotta keep those computers talking to each other so every soldier knows what needs to be known as SOON as it can be known!

    Heater Blower...nothing

My rig is a 93 YJ, so not sure if this is helpful ... If my selector switch is set to "VENT", the blower motor will not come on. If yours is the same setup, make sure mechanical connections (cables) are the way they should be as well.

    New Girl

Welcome from a fellow YJ located on the left coast. Two years ago, I was where you are now. Enjoy the learning experience and all the assistance the folks here on the board can give you. Come to think of it, I haven't posted any pics of my rig. Hmmmm ... got to remedy that. Much success!

    Our "economic stimulus" rebates

Man, politics is so frustrating. This isn't a W "economic stimulus", congress bought into the idea. And if it weren't that it'd be something equally short-sighted. Just like now, W sits down with representatives of Congress and works out this deal, everyone agrees so it can get out to the...

    Daystar Urethane Motor Mounts

Yeah, I also installed the polyurethane transmission mounts at the same time. By using polyurethane motor mounts, transmission mounts and in all spring bushings when I did my suspension lift, my YJ feels SOLID!

Hummer is going after the swb Jeep market

I was struck by "Youthful, open-air entry-level-size HUMMER". Can you say youthful, entry-level and Hummer in the same sentence? I certainly can't. Unless that youth can spring $40K from one of their endowments.

    Transfer Case Drop

As an owner of a 93 YJ, I think I can answer both questions for you: 1 - Yes, you will need the TC drop to compensate for pinion angles changing due to the 2" lift. 2 - No, pitman arm will not need replacing. 2" suspension lift will not have sufficient affect on the steering angles and the...

    HAppy Thanksgiving!

I really try to reflect often on the many blessings given me ... here's a short list: 1 - A loving wife. After 23 years I still can't figure what she sees in me. 2 - Two fantastic kids. Who turned out GREAT despite the fact I rarely knew what I was doing. 3 - Freedom. My right to...
