If the "vapor line" is what the tank vents off of ,I could see where kinking it or plugging it would cause the engine to stall. Without a vent eventually fuel will stop flowing and I would imagine it would be pretty hard on the fuel pump. I would try unkinking the vapor line to see if that...

I would recomend putting a dolly under the front wheels. Not sure how much they rent for but it couldn't be as much as a front set of tires. I flat towed my jeep 3 hours and I guess the wheels must have been turned silghtly because that trip burned about 40% of my tread off.

It seems to me like flooding would be more noticed at idle when extra fuel is not needed, not at highway speeds. It's possible you could have an air pocket in the system some where. Possibly the thermostat may be sticking. Did you try running it with out the radiator cap to watch for flow when the stat opens.

Don't buy one from auto zone. I took 2 of them back and ended up going to napa to finally get one that would fit. The first 2 I got from Auto zone were cast wrong. The pulley would have rubbed the pump housing and belts were 1/4 inch out of allighnment.
