    From posts i have read for California.It's better to go to the emissions place and find the Manager and see whats required.They have info there they follow as to what you need.Wouldn't hurt anyway,at least you know what your up against. Good Luck

    Howell has a kit for California.I have a emissions chip in mine.I also have a offroad and street legal chip to put in if i want it. It takes a weekend to install or one day if your good at it.Sometimes a little longer if there's trouble tuning it. Here's a article on it. Howell TBI Throttle...

    86 cj7 258ci problem

    I presume tightning it didn't work.You'll have to do the exhaust also to do it right.I used allen head bolts when i did mine.It made it alot easier.Lock Tite and anti-seize will be your best friend also for the bolts.

    Has anyone checked the distributor gear since install?Some of the HEI dizzys had hardened gears that would eat a cam up on startup.Especially on the 258.That would throw everything off.

    I put a Howell kit on 14 years ago and never regretted it.Mileage went up as did performance.Mine is a 83 with the computerized Carter BBD

    '82 CJ7 Misfire

    I had a miss in mine in the high ranges.It turned out to be the plate on the throttle body where the throttle linkage was bolted to was on wrong. Once we positioned the plate on the throttle body correctly it went away.Is Howell working with you on this?I would sure get their input.
