    Lift Kit experiences

How were the instructions that came with your lift? I've never installed one by myself before so I need all the help I can get. Easy to follow directions/ease of installation will definitely play a part in my decision. LVRockCrawler, you say Hellcreek has great, excuse me, GREAT, support. Anyone...

    Lift Kit experiences

I have read most of the old threads on lifts and still cannot make up my mind which one to buy. For around $500 shipped (give or take $30 or so) I can get Rough Country, Hellcreek, or Rustys. Am I correct in understanding that all three of these are essentially the same Rough Country lift, but...

RE: Re: RE: Re: New wheels Advance Auto Parts had the whole assembly last time I checked. I had to get one for my old Jeep. They didn't have individual parts so I just replaced the whole thing. I would think if Advance had it, most parts houses would.

Need help deciding which Jeep to Keep

RE: Re: RE: lincoln locker, quick question Well I sold the 89 6 cyl. today. In the end it came down to which one somebody bought first. The guy who bought it originally came to look at the 90 4 cyl. but he seen the other one and it is a perfect match for what he was wanting. Someone wrecked his...

Need help deciding which Jeep to Keep

RE: YJ TRAILER PICS I know the hard top will fit the Jeep, I guess what I should have said was, I have to see if my door uppers will fit to the hard top once it is on the Jeep. I've got 3 sets of doors, but I'm pretty sure all are the kind with sharp corners, and the hard top requires rounded...

Need help deciding which Jeep to Keep

RE: White posted in GEN CHAT Thanks for the replies. It looks like most people vote to keep the 4 cyl. and to tell you the truth, I'm glad that's the case. It is in a lot better shape than the 6 cyl. so what I think I'm going to do is keep the 4 banger, and sell the 6 cyl. But 1st I'm going to...

Need help deciding which Jeep to Keep

Hey guys. I've got 2 Yj's and sadly I need to get rid of at least one of them for now. One of them is a 1989 (carb) 6 cyl Laredo Hard Top with 170,000 miles. I just got it back from my brother, and while it was gone it has developed a "click click click" ing noise somewhere in the drive line...

    Question about my transmission

Thanks. That has what I am looking at then. It just looks strange flopping around under there. I guess that's the way it is supposed to be.

    Starter Removal

I got that son of a nun off today. Even with the torx socket and air ratchet, it still did not give up easily. My total "jeep payment" - the cost of parts to keep it going - so far this month is $150. At this rate, it would be cheaper to make payments on a Rubicon. Seems like every...

    Starter Removal

OK I got the reverse torx set from Sears. I think this is exactly what I need. I didn't have time today to take the bolts off, but it looks like the bolt pattern. If/when I get these off tomorrow, I'll replace the bolts with something of a more common pattern - Not unlike half the other things I...

    Question about my transmission

It's probably the clutch bleeder valve. It has a doohickey, i believe that's the technical term, on the end that kind of looks like a zerk fitting or a brake bleed screw. Is that what a clutch bleeder valve looks like? I just never seen this before and was wondering what it is. I can sleep well...

    Question about my transmission

It's a 1990 YJ 4 cyl manual. The rod is not connected to anything, it is just sticking out from the transmission.

    CB suggestions.

The best thing to do is as LGR suggested and use a SWR meter. However, if you just want to see if it works, turn to channel 19. Most truck drivers in most areas use 19 as their "Home" channel and should get a generous amount of traffic if you are anywhere near a highway system.

    Starter Removal

Does anyone know what size/type bolt holds the starter on a YJ? I got one of the bolts out with a 12 point socket (3/8" if I remember correctly) but the socket just slips off the other bolt. I think what I need is called a reverse torx socket. Is this correct and what size do I need?

    Question about my transmission

On the passenger side and on the front of my bellhousing is a rod sticking out with a boot around it. What is its purpose?

    dying rollbar covers

The previous owner of my YJ used RIT to dye the door uppers from spice to black. It turned out very well. They have been black now with no fading for 2 years, from what he told me. I wouldn't be afraid to try it on rollbar covers, if it was me. Actually, I was thinking of doing this myself, as...

    Now For The Next Mod

dying rollbar covers Can't you just tell them what model # you want without telling them a specific car? I know my autozone isn't the most user friendly atmosphere for someone mechanically challeneged, like myself, but if I go in there with a part # or model # they can usually help me out. Just...

    Fun Facts about Jeepz

I have such little free time at home that for awhile I only had time to check out the site from work. But now Big Brother blocked the Jeepz domain so I can't visit from work anymore. I haven't forgotten about the site, I just have to squeeze some time in from my busy "new daddy" schedule to log...

Need help getting my new Jeep home (wheel question)

I ran into the same problem trying to put the rims from my Ford Ranger onto my Jeep. I actually pressed them on using the lug nuts. I DO NOT recommend doing this however. I was just ignorant. They were a $#@%! to get off. Anyway, what I did once I did get them off is use a metal file to files...
