I'm joe blow a weekend mechanic having a harness problem wonder if some one can tell me how much voltage goes to all dash gauges checking the output at the wires going to the gauges is 12 volts I'm told that's too much voltage it blow the gauge?
Any help is very much appreciated!

everything should be at 12v... or close to it... its current that cooks things ... think of voltage being the pressure in a hose and current being the volume of liquid going thru it... a short allows the current to spike due to little or no resistance thus causing fuses to blow... dont check for voltage - check for shorts (resistance b/w pos and neg at or near 0ohms...) think i phrased that right... too many beers to check myself... g'luck and welcome to jeepz! you'll like it here!

How old is the Jeep? If it's a YJ I wouldn't be surprised to find a regulator somewhere in the cluster. Chrysler used these on many vehicles from the 60's on. Best of Luck - John
