35x12.50x16's on 16x8's

so I really don't want to buy new wheels. I like the Alcoas that came stock on the Tomb Raider edit. and I would really rather put that 700 to use elsewhere. How bad am I screwing up mounting 12.5's on 8 inch wide rims? I know the offset is 4.75 and I am pretty well sold on either the Mud Grapplers or the Goodyear MTR's in the 315/75/16. Anyone running tires that wide on 8 inch wide wheels??

What do ya'll think?

Thanks,

Jack

It's pretty common to run a 12.5" wide tire on an 8" wide rim. Sure, most manufacturers don't recommend it, but if you look at their charts, they usually recommend an 8.5" or wider rim--that extra .5" won't make too much of a difference. If you offroad the Jeep, then you are probably better off with an 8" wide rim anyway so the bead is better protected. I vote that you keep the 16x8's.

Agreed, and it will help keep the rim from getting rock rash.

If anything a wider tire on a skinnier wheel will help hold the beed and keeping from popping off.
