Hi all, newbie here!
Have been working on my project YJ and it is almost ready. Last big issue is the transmission. Prior to putting the lift in I had 3 issues with the Trans.
1) spring holding shifter between 3rd and 4th shot
2) would grind going into 2nd at higher than minimal rpms
3)didn't want to stay in reverse -occasionally it did.
after I put in the lift with tcase lowering kit, it wouldn't go into reverse at all. I removed the boots in the cockpit and seen the shifter was hitting the body. I cut away metal and it worked smoothly when engine was off. Took it for a test drive and heard noise. Rough sounding. During trip I put it in reverse and that is where it is locked. Can't get it to move. Pulled driveshaft and towed home.
Thoughts???
I am thinking about tearing into it myself, but would like feedback prior to doing so. Am having issues finding one to replace it with in Ohio area. Did find an AX-15 that came out of a chevy s-10. Is it the same if I swap bell housing?
