88 YJ Oil Pressure Gauge

Recently got an 88 Laredo YJ. Runs great. However, the oil pressure gauge is always pegged. Oil level seems good, planning on changing oil this weekend. Is a new pressure gauge my first option?

Might want to check the sending unit. Wife's '94 yj had the same problem. When the diaphram in the sending unit went, left an ocean of oil in a WalMart parking lot. Took 4 quarts to get it home (10 miles + or -). Cheaper than a new gauge.

Sending unit would be my first try also. If it's the gauge, You have to change out the whole gauge panel.
