Brake controller equipment recommendation and install advice on XJ

I'm about to start pulling a little trailer weight (1,500 lb, trans cooler upgrade activated) with the 96 XJ, and I'd like to get set up to run trailer brakes. I know new kinds of brake controllers come out all the time, so I thought it'd be worth asking if there are any models/brands out there worth recommending. Simple and reliable are always my two biggest priorities.

No idea from me. I use yhen if they come on a vehicle but i never added one.


Though i did grow up pulling a trailer with 2-3 tons of dirt on a half ton ford before adding a hitch was popular so i am accustomed to towing.

Yep. The formula is drive like you're pulling 5 times the weight and you should do ok, at least that's the way I've always done it. No need to take chances.
