can I buy stock replacement shocks

or do I need aftermarket shocks because of the 4" lift I have? Not sure if OEM shocks have enough travel to work with what I have.

Thanks!

If you've got 4 inches of lift then you'll need aftermarket shocks made for that amount of lift. You could probably get stock ones to fit on on the street, but as soon as you go offroad you'll destroy that shock.

As to what brand, I've used Rubicon Express, Rancho and Pro Comp. The RE and Rancho seemed fine, but the Pro Comp seemed to ride rough (this is 10 years ago on my CJ, so take it with a grain of salt).

Rubicon Express

Rough Country $120 on ebay :

Or some Pro Comps

you could run a stock shock, but will take some work. I run stock shocks and have about 3 inches of lift, but I moved the shock mounts from the bottom of the axle tubes to the top of the axle tubes with is about a 3.5" difference. for shocks, I run the cheapest NAPA shocks made for a stock YJ, I think I paid $8 per shock.
