CB/PA install

I just picked up a $35 Midland CB radio at Walmart to mount in my CJ. Any suggestions on where to mount it? Also, I noticed it has a PA feature...now this is just too good to pass up. My question about the PA is, what size speaker/horn should I buy, and where do people usually install these things on their Jeeps? I've seen some $6 PA speakers on ebay that are 12watt and 5" in diameter, but I just don't know if it will be loud or clear enough.

check radio shack for the speaker... mount under hood near grille... as for the radio... under dash/center is where i put my cobra in my YJ... antenna... hit a truck stop (Pilot, T/A, Flying J etc..) and get the barjan dual antenna set - not too expensive and come in several lengths... also, they sell the coax that takes the two into one jack and I mounted mine on the rear corners above each tail light (just use the mirror mounting brackets that hold the antenna and drill 4 holes to mount, one larger one in the center for the jack and run the cable thru to the underside of the antenna - looks trick and works really well...)

I always mount CB's under the dash (still visible though). For the PA, on both my rigs with them I've used just the common 5" speakers and they are plenty loud enough. Under the hood is the best spot....usually on the fender-well, close to (and facing) the grill like LVRockCrawler said.

RE: Lift Kit experiences

one good thing though is they've gotten so cheap now and popularity is down so theft isnt as prominent as it used to be like say back in the 70's - mines been in for about a year now and hasn't grown legs yet (gotta find some wood to knock on now...)

I had a CB/PA set up in my Toyota. Put the PA on the fenderwell. Cool thing was the CB had these built in effects. You could punch a button and make it sound like a machine gun, a laser, and something else.....ahhh, to be a kid again.....wait, what am I saying? I still act like a kid.....
