Ok, here's what I got. A chevy 327 in an 84 CJ7. This was a swap project I started many years ago but I got layed off and moved a few times. Now I'm ready to get back to work on it.
I have a Ford T18 transmission stuck to a Dana 20 t-case that I want to bolt up to the motor. The below link is Novak talking about how easy it is to make this happen. They say to just turn down the large diameter of the retainer to fit into the bell housing, shorten the retainer 7/16, and a few adjustments on the transmission's ears for mounting.

Has anyone tried this? Is it really this simple? What else is involved?
