RE: Besttop soft top installation

any one know of a good read on how to eliminate most of the vacumn lines under my hood of a 83 CJ7... 258 stock?

Thanks guys!

When I put in my MC 2150, I got rid of them all except the vaccum advance. I think it might be to your advantage to leave the power vavle hooked up though. Don't remember if the stock carb had one though. Do you have the stock carb?

What accessories are you driving and what restricitions do you have to comply with to be legal?
If you have power brakes then that one must remain. IF you don't have legal issues then you can ditch all of the emissions related ones and plug the exhaust ports.

Restriction wise, none! Vehicles made 1984 and earlier are not subject to emissions checking in massachusetts. I have manual brakes at the moment, but will eventually be power (down the road).
I would just like to simplize under the hood. (cause some are connected, and some are not...

the carb is the original

Well first of all you need to get rid of that 22 year old carb...It's a pos and w/o emission testing there is no need to keep it. I would suggest a motorcraft 2100/2150 as the cheap rout or a weber if you want a bit more performance. Ditch all the vaccum lines except for the timing advance and just plan on installing a couple more down the road when you convert to power brakes. After tampering with the emissions equipment you will need to bypass the computer (Nutter bypass) or do an HEI distributor swap :D . Right now my jeep has a motorcraft carburetor, hei distributor, and one vacuum line.

Naaaah, don't believe the hype. I'd put a 2150 on my performance engine before I would mess with a Weber. For a more tuneable performance application, go ahead and step up to a 350cfm Holley 2300 on a modified factory manifold or a Holley 390cfm 4bb on an aftermarket manifold, or the 500cfm Holley 2bb, or a 600cfm 4bb, or......okay, that's enough.

Re: RE: Great News NOT

All are good heads up, I don't want to invest too much into the motor, It is going to be replaced with either a AMC 304 or posibly a 318... depends what I find..
I am gonna look in to the motorraft 2150 if it is a inexpensive option. one thing I do need to do is Bone up on my Carb tuning abilities!! Haven't owned a vehicle with a carb in about ten years, and even the last one had a edlebrock 1406 which requires very little tuning.
