Coolant temp sensor location 85 258

I recently picked up a used 85 head to put on my 74 engine and it wasn't until I got it home that I realized the hole for the coolant temp sensor wasn't where it was on my 74 (right beside the thermostat housing).? Any ideas where it is ? I couldn't see anywhere else in the head that it looked like it would go either.? Hopefully it goes in the block on an 85 and my block has the hole and its just plugged.??

On the newer years, it was on the factory intake manifold.

So coolant runs through the intake on newer years

Yes, the last few years of the 258 had a "heated water" passage through the intake manifold. The heater supply connected to the front of the manifold and exited from the rear continuing to the heater core. You could make up a tee fitting to go in line with the heater supply?

I did a little more research and I found it. It's on the back of the top of the head right on the corner by the intake
