doors?

Did all cj5's come with doors? If it did not come with doors would the pin holes be on the body?
I looked though some of the pic from the post your cj pic and few of the pics look like there is no hinge on the body.Unless those people have removed the hinge at some point I dont know.

Funny you mentioned that. I never paid attention on the body hinges with the CJ5's and CJ7's. I've always thought that it was standard.:???:. So now, each time i see a CJ, i will be looking for the hinges.

Same here, I owned a 79' CJ5 and I can't remember if they were the same as my 3 CJ7's I have owned. I just assumed they were.:???:

Ok, well thanks for everyones help. But would any of the '90 or 2000 jeep hard half doors fur my 1974 jeep cj?

If your 74 is a CJ5, the answer is no. If its a CJ7, the diferrence will be on the door latch striker. Older one's is a bolt design and the newer ones are the loop bracket.

Your 74 should have the narrow door openings. Compare them to newer YJs and TJs to determine if you have a CJ5 (narrow door openings) or a newer CJ7 (production started in 76, if I recall). Keep in mind someone might have modified the Jeep at some point. You might have to settle for soft doors or an "original" hard top (somewhat tough to find). Best of luck - John

So you are saying that yj or tj doors will fit.

So your saying probably the yj's or tj's?

CJ-5 doors are not compatible with anything newer than a CJ-5 (meaning that a CJ-7, YJ, TJ, or JK doors won't fit).

Here is a picture of a CJ5 and a CJ7 - note the little bump on the 5's door

YJ and TJ doors will not fit on a 74. Terry has provided a good photo comparisin of the two. You might need to go with aftermarket soft doors. If you drive both Jeep types frequently you'll always get the "kick in the butt" from the CJ5 doorway as you get in. You get used to the extra space in the CJ7 doorway pretty fast and "OWWWEE!!" there's the kick in the butt as you jump into the CJ5:lol::lol: (or in my case M38. Best of luck - John
