easiest carb

Ok so I'm finally gonna replace my POS carter and am looking for a good carb to buy. I know all about the motorcraft carbs but I think I'm goin to get a new one. What is a good carb that will bolt right on? I'm on a budget too so if there's not a good new one for my price range I probably will go with a 2150 but if there's a newer one that isn't too pricey I'd like to know about it. thanks in advance.

What wrong with a Motorcraft? If you get a professionally built one it is just as good as brand new. The problem with anything else is they are expensive. The cheapest I have ever seem a webber is $295 and that's on ebay. I also don't like them because so many people have a hard time making them work. They have a tendancy to be tricky to tune right. If its not perfect it won't run well. My Motorcraft can be way off of adjustment and it will stull run. Kill my gas mileage but it will still run.

My suggestion would be a Holley 350 cfm two barrell. I put one on my 83 CJ7 and I love it. It was an easy install with an adapter plate. The Holley is also easy to tune. I have changed out jets a few times and even swapped in a different power valve to maximize fuel economy. I now get close to 14 mpg in the city from a carbed I6 with well over 100,000 miles on it and have more power and much better idle quality than I did with the Carter.

I've run the stock 2150 for over 15 years. I've rebuilt a few times - it was fairly easy, but the rebuild kits cost over 20 bucks. Over all it's been fine. Awhile back, I got pissed and ripped off all the auto choke crap and just ran a cable to the choke plate. Over-all it works and is fairly simple.

You could probably find one in a junk yard off an old AMC or cherokee. Hey, get several, clean'um up and sell'um on ebay - you might make a few bucks.

Post about Jeeps, eh?

If I can find a motorcraft for a good price on ebay I think thats what im goin to do. What all do you have to do to make it work right? After the adapter plate what else do I have to do?

I have a comment for once

mr. gasket part 1937. i have one new in box and unused lying around. $15+shipping if you're interested. I have the MC 2100 (basically the same as the 2150) and i love it. runs no matter what with the cable choke. after i get it jetted correctly it will be 10 outta 10, but for now its a 8.7 outta 10

It says it a 1.08, that's about 290cfm. That's plenty for a factory or near factory engine.

After you get one, take the time to get it tuned right. If you aren't experienced with tuning carbs then take it to somebody who is. Your going to be using a carb that is calibrated for a completely different combo than the one your putting it on......it may need some tweaks to do it's job correctly.
