Engine swap

I purchased a rebuilt 4 cyl engine out of a 96 Jeep Wrangler.
The engine has all new ECU and electrical system.
What I am wanting to do is put this engine into my 1980 CJ5. Can some one help me figure out how to disable parts of the ECU on the new engine.
All I want is the bare stuff. The 96 orginaly has ABS and I need to remove that so the ECU does not flash codes.
Thanks

Will your CJ transmission mate up with the new engine, or did you get the transmission from the 96 as well?

I was just kicking it around, and do you even need to disable anything? I mean the engine will fun fine with that ABS code right?

Okay, i've been researching the wiring diagram on a 97 instead of a 96 model for this engine swap. as far as i can tell, the PCM only has 1 line going to the ABS controller. it's a Communication line. This will NOT affect the engine performance like Terry said earlier. as for the PCM or ECU throwing out any Codes, are you also going to install the diagnostic port and the SES lamp on the CJ? , if not, i wouldn't worry about it. Now Terry has brought up an interesting Question, Did you also get the Transmission? , is it a manual or automatic?.If it is an automatic, The PCM has control over the Torque converter Solenoid, so no worrys there.

Im sorry guys I was mistaken on the year..
I verified that the old jeep was a 1992..
Again I am sorry.. The facts were presented to me wrong.

The trany orginal to the engine is a standerd.
I will be using the stock 1980 CJ5 trany.
So the speed contorl module will have to be removed also..

Thanks again for all the help guys.
Also does any one know were to find a diagram break down on the 92 engine.
Such as wiring and vacum lines..

Thank again

That '92 computer needs the VSS input in order to run properly. I wouldn't know any way around that other than to install an electronic speedo sensor.
