Gasket for Headers

I have an I-6, 4.2, Offenhauser Exhaust Manifold and Pacesetter Headers in my 86 CJ7, any advice for the appropriate gasket for the headers? I have a slight leak and want to solve this problem. I'd appreciate any advice the group might have. Thanks.

I had this problem for quite a while and tried many gaskets and couldn't solve the problem. What I finally did was use a stock gasket and got a tube of ultra copper silicon. Put a thin coat on each sice of the exhaust gasket and bolted it up. No leaks yet after a year. I wouldn't use it on the intake openings since it says not to use around gasoline but its held up quit well for me on the exhaust. I have blown two collector gaskets since I did that with no leaks at the manifold.

RE: Re: RE: aussie locker

Header gasket leaks is why I have always stuck to the manifold. Seems the headers are nice but problemitic. tug

RE: Merry Belated everyone come see my X-Mas present

I agree with derff.....be liberal with the liquid gasket. Thats the only way I got rid of my leaks.

RE: Re: Serious for a Change - Jobs

one good idea i do is cut the mounting flange bar thingy that connects all ports... if that thing warps.. its not going to allow all ports to sit flush... if you cut them.. you relieve each port to bolt independently

RE: front locker installed

Thanks to all who replied; I spoke with Pacesetter and they have a specific gasket for their headers. Going to see if that helps.
