Has anyone tried the Crime Guard Alarms from Crutchfield?

i was reading a recent issue of JP and they had an alarm special in there. they interviewed 2 car thieves on 10 different antitheft items and of the 10 devices they tried, the only 2 the thieves said would deter them were 1. ignition kill/no-start system and 2. a mean looking dog. everything else they said they'd just pop the hood and kill the battery on, or just tear out the GPS tracking device, etc. the magazine website is www.jpmagazine.com if you were interested in reading the article for some more info.

Hi,

IMO car alarms just make annoying noises. A good immobilizer system, on the other hand, is a great benefit.

There is a great write-up on building your own immobilizer at this site: http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=0059&P=1

I built an immobilizer similar to the one in the write-up for less than $20 for my wrangler, and it works great. The circuit can be modified easily so you can use it to cut off multiple circuits if you want.
