Loud rattle in 4th & 5th gears

I've got 2003 Wrangler 4 cyl. manual transmission w/ 6" lift and 32" tires. Here's the problem: When I'm at speeds over 45 mph I get a very loud and fast rattle coming from below the shifter when my foot is OFF the gas pedal. It doesn't affect the handling or performance....it's just really annoying. Any suggestions???

The mechanics at our local shop can't seem to figure it out, but being female I'm having a hard time with it as well!

I had something almost exactly the same as you describe happen in mine. Turns out my transfer case had leaked and had barely any ATF in it. Took me a while to find it, the noise sounded like it was coming from my transmission, not farther back. Filled it up and noise gone(and i saved my transfer case). Check all your fluids. Then i guess just start checking for worn or loose parts in your driveline. How's your driveshaft angle?

My guess is bad ujoint angles. With your foot off the gas pedal, the rear pinion is forced downward increasing steep ujoint angles already created by 6" of lift.

What type of rear driveline mods have you done to compensate for the tall lift?
