Neutral Safety Switch

OK, my CJ is probably 1-2 weeks from being on the road. I am getting excited!

I got a "Painless" kit b/c the previous owner really chewed up the wiring harness and I deemed it irrepairable. Well, they have the neutral saftey switch wires in the under dash harness. I don't think I have a NSS under there. I think the connector on the column near the fire wall is the NSS. Its a 79 CJ-7, 258, TH400, tilt column. Can anybody confirm this? There are 4 prongs, and 2 are a closed circuit in park and neutral (for starting), and 2 are closed in reverse (back up lights).

Also, there is a switch activated by the gas pedal when its floored. I think this is called a "kick-down" switch or something of the sort. There is one wire leading to the transmission. Is this just an on/off 12V that is grounded through the transmission? The kit doesn't have a hook up for this, and I am wondering how to add it in.

It seems like my "universal" and "painless" kit will have to be modified to work for my stock CJ.

The NSS should be at the base of the column and is most likely white.

From what you describe, those are the harnesses that plug in.

That kick down wire sounds like a electronic throttle detent switch, it has to be connected to the transmission. I was under the assumption that a TH400 was a cable kick down and that the powerglides were electronic...
