New here...CJ5 Whitco top question

Hello, I have an 81 CJ5, I recently bought a NOS whitco top and doors for my 5, and it doesn't seem to fit properly... The width is correct along the windshield, but as far as how it mates the door opening the top is wider than the door opening. I was told this top is most likely for an earlier CJ5, does this sound correct?? If it won't fit, I'll just sell it, but I'd like to at least figure out what jeepthis top is for...Thanks in advance.
