Prep new leafsprings?

Hey guys/gals,
I have a set of new 1.5" RE SOA springs on the way to my house. I don't know how they are going to look when they get here (for a finish) I assume just black paint which will chip away and eventually rust. My question is, has anyone used POR-15 on leaf spring packs? Do you think it's a good idea? I know it will wear away in some areas when it flexes... but just an idea. Thoughts?

RE springs come with a good coat off black already on them. So far in almost 2 yrs mine haven't came off or anything.(except where i hit rocks)
