Rear Seats and Hard Tops

A few little questions, for my curious nature.
(I'm obviously not a master of Jeep history.)

When did CJs get rear seats? Always?
When did CJs get an optional hard top?

Both good questions, although, I have no idea. :-D [addsig]

I know that CJ8's always could have hardtops, same woth CJ7's. I think they redesigned them in 76 though and are not interchangable. I know you can get hard tops for CJ5's but I don't think they were factory. unsure on that. as for rear seats, as far as I know you could always have a rear seat option in any CJ, except the CJ8's. Those are the pick up looking jeeps, but I have seen people add seats to the rear of them.

Factory hard tops started in 76, the first year of the CJ7. I've seen a few older CJ5's that had aftermarket metal tops and doors, but its hard to say when that started.

The rear seat has probably been around since the begining (even though it might not have always been there), I remember seeing a picture of the original Bantam Jeep with people sitting in the back seat.[addsig]

I have found a number of pictures of CJ7s that
I can see a back seat. But have yet to see one
on a CJ5. Granted, I have not had great results
in finding interior shots of either models. :)
