the driver side shackle hanger on my 87 YJ has cracked in two. i know it will need to be torched off the frame and replaced, but i cant seem to find an OEM or even after market heavy-duty hanger for it. can anyone direct me in the right direction for a replacement part? thanks

just an idea... if you do not find a heavy duty hanger... you may want to look into having some made... a machine shop will be able to do that for you... and if you do... you can get them hang down an inch further from the frame... that, in conjunction with a 1" shackle, will give you a 1" lift with none of the cons of a normal shackle lift since you are keeping the same caster and pinion angle due to a drop in each end of the spring

I had to replace my shackle hanger on my CJ for the same reason and I think I got a new one for about 10 bucks at tellico 4x4 online.

They aren't hard to make if you have access to the materials and equipment. If you have broken one, you will break another. I can't remember if the YJ is the same, but the CJ has a hole in the factory hanger that clears a rivet in the frame. That hole makes the factory hanger weak. A new set of factory hangers can be gusseted to add strength, if you don't want to buy heavy duty ones($). I've got a set of Tomken hangers on my CJ that came off of a parts Jeep that I had and they are quality pieces. I think they run about $50 a pair, which is cheaper than I would charge you to stop what I was doing and fab you a set if you came into my shop wanting to have some made.

Wait a second.......you said it would need to be torched off the frame........are you talking about the shackle mount that is bolted to the frame or the spring hanger that the fixed end of the spring attaches to?
