should my front drive shaft be rotating when i'm not in 4wd?

i think i know the answer to this but i never saw anyone drive away in my jeep before today and i noticed it was rotating. i just had some work done to the t- case and never really noticed before.

in a TJ, the front driveshaft will always turn as the front axle turns... it is just not engaged to the transfercase
