Im considering doing a spring over axle lift sometime this summer. Seems like it can be done for fairly cheap with a nice looking lift. What do i need to do the lift right without having problems down the long run. And how much money am i looking at spending to get this done. I was out looking and it doesnt seem like i need much if im just raising up the frame, the only thing moving are the axles. Longer brake lines and stuff but it doesnt look like much. Wat does everyone think?

Brake lines, shocks, steering correction (drop pitman arm at minimum), driveline angle and lengthening, cutting, welding...

It's not a simple job by any means. Don't get me wrong, I think it is the way to go, but even with the kits available it is quite the project.

WHat do you mean by driveline angle and lengthening? Where can i get a kit to do this and wat kinda price should i look at spending?

Are we talking about your 63?

A friend and I discussed doing this with his 69 CJ5. Some things to keep in mind before stuffing huge tires under the fenders...... Of course the flathead is going to have a hard time, the brakes are marginal with 33s, and even though you have a D44 it's got 19 spline tapered shafts if I'm not mistaken. Also, take a look at the steering on yours. That Ross cam and lever crap doesn't go with a big lift, you'll need to swap to the later Saginaw stuff.

Expect to spend alot of money on updating alot of stuff if you're looking to go over a 2.5" lift and 33s.
