- mud got into the engine.

- engine occasionally sputters and sluggish acceleration.

Should I take it to a shop and get the engine flushed? I looked up the topic a bit and some people have had their engines destroyed by doing this.. they said from the left over debris in the engine after the flush.

I got this "Motor Flush" from Autozone which you are supposed to mix with your oil before doing an oil change.. supposed to let it idle for 5 min. then change the oil and filter. Haven't done it yet though. Thought I would ask for some opinions.

Thanks.

tough call.... reminds me of a husky i had back in florida with heartworms... he was almos 11 yrs old and the vet told me the heartworms would kill him... but the treatment might kill him.... went w/the treatment as the would beat the might.... sounds to me that mud in the engine WILL kill it and the flush MIGHT kill it... welcome to that wonderful place know as between a rock and a hard place.... let us know how it goes...

A big NO WAY to the engine flush from the parts store. It is basically a solvent to break down oil deposits, not to remove mud. It can speed up the breaking down of oil soaked gaskets and it can also remove oil deposits that have filled voids over the years. It's bad news and certainly will not help you get any mud from your motor ;)
