No. The 4.0 has the AMC bolt pattern. It's the same pattern as 232 and 258 AMC inline six cylinders, it's also the same as 290, 304, 343, 360, 390, and 401 AMC V8s. Unless you have the automatic, you don't want to use the factory transmission behind a decent V8 anyway. If your planned V8 is so weak that it can't rip apart a Peugeot, AX-5, or AX-15......you might as well just hop up the 4.0 a little bit and save yourself some headaches.
