Who's internet is it?

Sub frame connectors???

it is not owned by anyone... it is a network of computers owned by everyone on the network

RE: do you run a radio and what is your setup

I don't care who claims to control it as long as they are not censoring content

RE: Sub frame connectors???

no i thought gore invented it? either way... snitty is right, it is owned by everyone.

Well we can argue about who "owns" it all day, but the dispute is about control. We invented it, we control it.....that's how it should stay. Take a look at China's(and any other commie country) policy towards the use of the internet by it's citizens, believe me, we don't want ANY of that.

I say build your own damn network if you don't like the way this one runs. DO you think if it originated in Europe they would offer us a hand in controlling it? I don't.
YEAH! and how many world wars did we pull'em outta?

Well, the issue isn't who owns the internet, everyone does as it's a network of privately owned computers. It's the "Traffic controller" software at issue here:

At issue is who would have ultimate authority over the Internet's master directories, which tell Web browsers and e-mail programs how to direct traffic.
The issue is in regards to the above statement.

So, I say, where are the master directories? If it's physically housed in an american server, then it belongs to the US. It's not our fault foreign countries have invested so much into our technology. That's their problem. It's capitalism.

They (the directories) are a commodity like oil. Arab countries have most of it. If you don't like them having all of the control over oil, then don't buy into that commodity, or don't make yourselves dependant on that technology. The Euro's have nobody to blame but themselves.

It's not like they don't have the ablitly to build a separatley controlled network with master directories of their own that they could have control over.

Don't hate the playa, hate the game.

That being said, perhaps an IT pro (Like Terry) can clarify the particulars of how the directories work or where they are physically. It might be that we don't quite understand the hows or whys. Could just be a case of an esoteric subject.

RE: Re: Who

Screw 'em...I dont see what the big deal is. Is there some advantage US internet users have over the rest of the world? I have never heard of such a problem. If it aint broke dont fix it.

I have my moments...

But it was early, as indicated by the immense amount of spelling errors I can now see with a clearer head. Is there any such thing as a Liberaltarian?
