GM HEI Distributor

The Distributor on my 89YJ with a motorcraft carb upgrade needs to be replaced. So i Began doing my usual reading on the Junk yard alternatives and it seems that the HEI Distributor from chevy is the way to go. According to all the write ups the HEI is a beefier unit that provides a kick ass spark and is alot better with water. I found a list of chevy donors that carry the HEI and wanted to hit the junk yards asap! But before I do anything I wanted to see what u guys think of the swap? For those that have performed the swap are u happy? was it worth it? Is there a particular HEI that the 258 likes better?

There are only 2 types, large cap and small cap...referring to the size. You will know the difference when you see them. I hear the large caps will go alot longer before replacement due to the internal design, but I don't know if that is the right one for the swap. You can't go wrong with either.
