Ok guys how hard would it be or how involved is it... to go from the narrow trac axels that I currently have to the wide track axels out of a slightly later model.

Just bolt them in, the spring perches are the same width. Possibly different brakes but depends on the years you are dealing with.

will need steering from wide track also--right?

Well it depends on what he has to start with, he does not say what kind of jeep he has. But obviously you can't use a NT links on a WT axle, and it depends on what type of steering the chassis has. If his jeep has saginaw steering and the D30 comes with the drag link and tie rod (usually they do) then it is still just a bolt on swap baring any brake changes.
