are yj fuel pumps in the tank?

i just swapped my 87 cherokee for an 87 wrangler. the wrangler has a weber on top of it, a syncro 38 unit, and a crappy mr gasket fuel pump and mr gasket regulator. should an 87 wrangler have an in tank pump like the wife's 93 wrangler?

both are automatic trannies and 6 cylinder motors. (hard tops, full doors, and air conditioning )

mine is the black one, the wife's is the gold one

It's an engine mounted mechanical pump for the carb and the '93 is an in-tank pump for the fuel injection. They're are a ton of changes between those years, 2 completely different fuel tanks.
