Do I need to upgrade the axle shafts in my Dana 30 (with a locker)?

I'm driving from Virginia to Kentucky this summer for some wheeling (first time the kids and wife are all going), and I'm trying to get my Jeep in good shape, and to also pack all the spare parts that I could need. One thing that's been on my mind is my front Dana 30 axle. I've got an Aussie...

Picked up a new set of tools to bring off-road

I've been looking for some time for a set of tools to take off-road that do not rattle. I found these channel lock tools at my Sam's club for only $99. I'm pretty happy overall. The case has real metal hinges and if you shake it, you can't hear any tools rattle inside. It's got a lifetime...

    Leaking power steering box

Does this power steering box look like it's leaking to you guys? I'm not sure at what point a steering box leak becomes bad enough to pay attention to. The fluid level is still fine and it looks like this is a pretty small leak. Should I replace this with a stock steering box or is there a...

Which of these bolts is stronger?

I ordered a new trailer hitch for my wife's Toyota Highlander and it came with a new set of bolts. The factory bolts are stamped with an 11 and the new bolts are stamped with an 8.8. I know there are differences in hardnesses between metric and SAE bolts, but my assumption is these would both...

Recommend a winch plate for my TJ

After getting stuck a few times on my trip out to Burning Rock offroad park, I've decided to pick up a winch. My plan is to buy the Badlands Apex 12,000 LB winch from Harbor Freight https://www.harborfreight.com/12000-lb-winch-with-synthetic-rope-and-wireless-remote-56385.html The one thing...

    Burning Rock Offroad Park

I spent the weekend at Burning Rock Offroad Park in Sophia West Virginia, and it was a great time. There are plenty of trails, and they are well marked. They even had a free android app (maprika) that would show you were you were on the trail. It had been raining for a few days before we showed...

I think they are targeting these beers directly at me

Strolling through Wegmans, desperately seeking Valentine's Day presents, and I stumbled across these new beers. I was thinking "yeah, I probably don't need any alcohol", when they hit me with this NA beer Go ahead, just take my money..

Fixing my EVAP leak with a smoke machine.

For the better part of a year now, I've had a check engine light on. The code referenced a minor leak in my EVAP system. I hunted around but never could track it down. I finally decided to get serious and purchased a smoke tester off Amazon. AutoLine Pro Automotive Smoke Machine Leak Detector...

Is my AC clutch on the way out?

I was changing out the water pump on my 2005 Wrangler when I happened to spin the AC pulley. To my ear it sounds gravely, and there is the tiniest bit of play in it. The bad part is that I don't have a basis for comparison. How does this sound to you guys?

    Time for another water pump

There's a pink puddle under my Jeep that feels slick on my fingers . Looks like my water pump is leaking. I see that rock auto has a gates water pump for $43 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=948891&cc=1430906&pt=2208&jsn=1406 And a Mopar one for $187...

Would an extractor work to change the fluid in my automatic transmission

I'd like to change the fluid (or at least most of the fluid) in my 2005 Jeep TJ (42RLE) again. Normally I'd pull the aftermarket skidplate, and drop the pan, then fill things back up again. I'm wondering if an oil pump like this might make things easier...

LED lights (brake, turn and maker) for my Jeep TJ

I had gotten tired of the stock yellow marker lights, and red brake lights on my Jeep TJ, so decided to do a bit of an upgrade. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, as most LED packages are pretty expensive. This is how I upgraded my tail lights, and turn signals for less than most full...

Check out this cool little endoscope for $5

Earlier I had posted about changing my spark plugs, and it got me curious as to what my cylinders and top-end look like. I thought about buying one of the expensive endoscopes or cameras off of Amazon, but I ended up cheaping out. For $5 including shipping, I bought this USB camera off of...

What is everyone asking for Christmas?

I'm getting a new bidirectional ODBII sensor that hooks into my phone. Probably not needed for my old TJ, but should be good for the wife's Highlander. What are you guys looking for?

What does this tire valve tool do?

I've been putting together an offroad toolkit to take on an upcoming trip. One of the recommendations was to get some spare tire valve cores, as people often remove (and loose) them when airing down. I picked up this kit on amazon: Screwdriver style and the one with the blue center seem to...

    New Jeepz.com coming soon!

I've got some exciting news - there is a new Jeepz.com on the horizon! Currently, we are running Vbulletin, a forum software from 2016. It has served us well, however many aspects of it are broken or failing. I've done my best to patch things, but it's a loosing battle. Now the good news -...
