Ok, I believe mudwoman posted something 'bout this little venture in some other thread...
Past weekend.....I've been working 4-10's and through scheduling changes I had Friday AND Monday off....bro' (jbdayojeep) and his son were in town from Ohio, so we went cruisin'. First, on Saturday, we took him all around on the pavement to some of our favorite spots......"The Road to Nowhere", Deal's Gap ("Tail of the Dragon"), the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a couple little short-cuts here and there.
Sunday, we set out for Max Patch - one of the most beautiful places in the world - and a place I happen to know a couple of "forest road" routes to get to........
Jeeps gassed up and ready......
Bro', gassed up and ready!!!!!.......
en route.......
the destination........Max Patch!!!!
the nephew and his girl at the "AT" (goes right over Max Patch mountain).......
sizing up a "play opportunity" on the way back (note the nephew in the "dip" on the back side).......
another view (yeah...still yakkin' about it....)
OK, ready to play!!!.....
Up and over!!........Yes, Life IS Good!!!!
The return trip.....
Sizin' up the "mud retainage".....(filled up my stinkin' skid plate!!!)....
From here we continued on to "Brown's Gap" (saw it on the topo map and couldn't resist looking for it!!) and on out to the "good road" (gravel) and on home. Along the way, we almost ran over a black bear cub (ran across in front of us) and spotted his sibling up on the rocks to our left (oops, no pics - they're very quick!!). Thinking that....if we're between them, then we've gotta be between at least one of them and mama bear, we scooted on outta there.
I know it's not Tellico and it's not Colorado, but it's about 15 min. from our house and pretty kind to stockers. It gets real fun when we've had some rain!!!!
Y'all oughta come visit sometime!!!!!!
