    "Brake" warning light?

I know it's probably something simple, but I am stumped. My brake warning light on the instrument cluster is on. I checked: fluid, pads, shoes, lines, etc... and can't find anything wrong. Any ideas??

Check the switch on your parking brake.

Or be sure your park brake is not up one click engaging the light but no the brake.

Turned out to be the proportioning valve sensor. Thanks for your help and input.
